1 Billion Download Landmark for Android Market.(UNOFFICIAL)

Data presented by AndriodLib, the number of downloads from the Android Marketplace has crossed 1 billion - almost two years after the launch of the store.

While the number is yet to be officially revealed by Google, there are already opinions saying AndroidLib maybe off by a nice margin.

Now, for some official stats. According to Google, as many as 160,000 Android devices get activated daily. The number of apps on the Android Market is inching towards the 100,000 mark. In July itself, the Android Market has added 11,000 new apps bringing the total number of applications to almost 93,000. This growth is particularly astonishing since we had reported just over three months ago that the Android Market then had about 30,000 applications.

The Number of android devices increased from 1 to 60 with in approx 2 years from the T-Mobile G1, in 2008 to Android phone being the Droid X.

While this number is quite less when you bring the Apple App Store to the picture - the Android Market is still huge. The Apple App Store has already crossed 5 billion downloads and now has over 225,000 applications.
