Relief for the Gmail Users Inbox overloaders

Google is trying to come to the rescue with a new Gmail feature announced Tuesday called Priority Inbox, which monitors your messages and tries to organize your inbox based on a number of criteria, like how often you correspond with a particular sender.

Google explains that the first thing Priority Inbox does is split your inbox into three sections: "important and unread," "starred" and "everything else."

"Important" messages are judged to be the most significant, and sit at the top of your Gmail window. Next is the "starred" area, the messages you say are important. Finally, "everything else" includes those messages that can probably be dealt with later, or completely ignored -- the ones that aren't quite spam, but don't need to clutter up your screen or your brain right now.

Now Indian Govt will be demanding data from Google and Skype.

Indian Government will now turn its focus to the Skype and the Gmail.

A notice will be sent to them on Tuesday on getting the Government access to their data.

Skype and Gmail may face the heat as the Government will demand access to their data.

Tech Radar UK multiple source confirms that Honeycomb will be the successor of Gingerbread

This news is as sweet as honey lol........

Multiple sources to TechRadar have confirmed that the next version will be called Honeycomb, although details of what they got may not be real afterall.

It's likely that it will be more of an incremental upgrade, in the same manner as Android 2.2 (Froyo) was to Android 2.1 (Éclair) as Google seeks to perfect the new platform on tablets and high-end smartphones.

That means Android Honeycomb will probably be Android 3.1 or Android 3.2, rather than a leap to the unimaginable magic of Android 4.0.

Adobe's AIR Coming to Android Market by the end if this Year.

As we know that Android had supported Adobe by making Android OS V 2.2 a.k.a "Froyo" capable of flash abilities , the company announced that it is readying the launch of AIR runtimes and apps for the Android Market.

Adobe announced that such apps will be available "after the end of Q4 2010," according to Endgadget. The mobile release would correlate to the release of AIR 2.5. In order to download the platform for their handset, users will have to grant it access to the phone's accelerometer, microphone, camera, and GPS, among others.

Like Android 2.2 before it, AIR will likely only work with a select number of Android handsets. Among the entry specs are an ARMv7 processor with vector co-processor and OpenGL ES 2.0. If your phone can do Flash 10.1, you're likely in luck.

However, Mr Schmidt said that Google would likely store more personal information about its users in the future.

Mobile devices rapidly overtaking PCs

This is not astonishing to know that mobile devices will out number PC's in terms of share since high processing (now 1 GHz is on roll soon there will be 2 GHz...(motorola has announced)).

There are billion-plus phones sold per year. The number of active subscriptions, which is greater than half of the human population. The hundreds of thousands of apps for apple and android which is keeping the user hook to them.

Based on their respective numbers, the companies below represent the biggest OS vendors in both the smartphone and desktop space on earth. What's interesting is that, with the explosion of iOS devices and Android over the past year and the relative stagnation of the desktop market, mobile OS shipments are approaching that of desktop OSes. In fact, smartphones may be surpassing desktop OS shipments right now. I'm going to attempt to prove that below.

Open Source Android to be sued by Oracle

( Reuters )Oracle Corp sued Google Inc, alleging patent and copyright infringement in the development of the popular Android smartphone software.

The suit, filed on Thursday in California federal court, claims that Google "knowingly, directly and repeatedly infringed Oracle's Java-related intellectual property" in developing Android, Oracle spokeswoman Karen Tillman said in a statement. "This lawsuit seeks appropriate remedies."

Oracle acquired Java through its $ 5.6 billion purchase of Sun Microsystems earlier this year. Analysts said the suit against Google could signal that Oracle intends to be more aggressive in seeking licensees for Java, a technology that is used in many types of Internet-based products.

According to Research Firm Gartner, Android sold 118,000 phone a day.

Research firm Gartner has published its report for mobile device sales to end users in Q2 2010. Year-over-year, Android jumped from 1.8% market share in Q2 2009 to 17.2% market share in Q2 2010. In sold units, we're talking about a jump from 755,900 sold units in Q2 2009 to 10,606,100 sold units in Q2 2010.

In other words, according to Gartner, approximately 118,000 Android smartphones were sold per day during the second quarter of this year. In comparison, Apple sold 97,000 iPhones per day, while Symbian and BlackBerry phones achieved 282,000 and 125,000 per day, respectively.

Combo of PSP and Android Smartphone may come soon.

This would make Gamers and Geeks go crazy. If rumors are to be believed, the Sony Ericsson is developing an hybrid device for gaming and phoning, powered by Android 3.0.

According to Engadget, Sony Ericsson is working on a hybrid mobile phone and gaming device that is a “cross between the Samsung Captivate and the PSP Go.” It supposedly includes a landscape slider complete with PSP-like controls, a touchpad in place of the joystick, a 3.7″-4.1″ screen, a 5 megapixel camera and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The phone will carry both the Xperia and PlayStation brands.

Engadget’s sources say that the device will run the 3.0 operating system, codename Gingerbread. It will run standard Android apps and will also include a marketplace just for Android-based games, especially ones that use the phone’s PSP-like controls. We could see classic PSP and PSX games being ported to the device via Android apps. The device could be announced later this year.

Google to announce New Feature for Android Tommorow?

Google has invited media and press outlets to attend a press conference at its Mountain View, Calif., headquarters on August 12. Google has confirmed that it will be announcing a new feature for its Android mobile operating system, but didn't give a clue what it will be.

This Press Meet has nothing to do with Android 3.0 Gingerbread right from the get-go. The company said the press conference was worth attending for local reporters, but not worth a last-minute, cross-country flight for New York-based reporters. That means the new feature isn't going to be terribly important or vital.

Some believe the event will herald the launch of Google's oft-rumored mobile / streaming music service. Others think Google will use the event to announce a new Web-accessible version of the Android Market.

"Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a" is the first Trojan to attack Android according to Kaspersky.

Recently conference by Black Hats showed us the Android OS is also vulnerable to attacks and now its happening. The malware detected by security firm Kaspersky, who confirmed the file is named “Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a” and is downloaded as a typical .APK Android app.

The company stated this is the first known Android-specific trojan.

It was a local outbreak of a mobile trojan in Russia

The malware works by posing as a media player app. Once the app is installed on the mobile device, the trojan begins to send SMS messages to premium rate numbers without the device owner’s knowledge. Since the trojan’s creators are usually the ones on the other end of those premium numbers, they end up profiting from the scam.

The app is pretty simple to set up and only requires that you enter in your Facebook credentials once. Friends are displayed in different groups; those that can be called with the app have a “V” logo next to their names. If a friend is online but doesn’t have the app installed, you can chat with him or her and also send an invite to download the app.

This video shows how the app works:
